Question: I spent the other night at the hospital because I fell and through out my back. The dr. Put me on muscle relaxer and I am in pain. She did tire me a note not to return to work for 4 days however i am suffering. I did go buy a heating pad but every time I get up the pain is bad. Last night we got 26 inches of snow and there is no way I can get back to the e r for help. I'm going to try and call the e r soon but for some reason Drs here don't like to give any kind of pain pills . Even the clinic I go to took away a pills call ambin which really work for me and got the sleep I needed for my job. I work many hrs and it hard for me to go home wind down and try to sleep before my next shift. But right now my back hurts almost as much as it did when I went in there. I did get two shots of morfhin with some muscle relaxer. How can you help me. Email. yyyyyyyyy1966@yyyyy. Com

Brief Answer:
You can use OTC painkillers first.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

Ambien is a drug used to promote sleep, it is not indicated to treat pain.

In my opinion, besides muscle relaxer, you should use a painkiller for a short time.

You can start with OTC painkillers such Paracetamol, or Ibuprofen.

If good control of pain by those drugs, you can use them for one week or so.

If no improved pain after a couple of days, you should discus with your Doctor about prescribing stronger painkillers such codeine, oxycodone, piroxicam etc.

If your sleep was a problem before the fall, it is probably a bigger problem after the fall, so, in my opinion, you could use Ambien too, before sleep for few days.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.

My cornern is I'm in pain now I'm ok when I'm just siting but when I get up I'm in tears. I did try to call the hospital the person I talked to and wanted to leave a meager about the pain I was in she told me I would have to come back to the ER. I work as a assist mrg at mcdolands I'm not one to use pills but when it hurts like I am in I don't understand why they didn't give me something while I was there. I don't use my medical insurance I work 10 to 12 hrs a day with two days off. I wanted to feel a little less, suffering than I'm in. Now I'm off work for 4 days which now I have to use one of my weeks vacation because I'm in pain. I wonder if it's more to get me back in there for the insurance than to help a patient get though the pain.

Brief Answer:
Try to stay more sitting/laying.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

Since you were evaluated once at ER, I don't think going there again could help you further.

I'm really sorry to hear all those sufferings you're going through. You need to rest as much as possible and also to use painkillers in addition to muscle relaxer.

Hope I helped you.

Take care.
