Brief Answer:
Cold vs pneumonia

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have had an upper respiratory infection for 7 days and now the cough has become heavy with heavy mucous and drainage. If you are having any signs of shortness of breath you may have bronchitis or pneumonia. If not then this is still just a bad cold. Continue to use the cough suppressant and drink plenty of fluids.

These upper respiratory infections can develop into pneumonia especially if you do not get rest and try to nurse the cold.

If you have the shortness of breath difficulty breathing fever or chills then you should be seen. A medical provider will be able to listen to yoru chest and decide if you have pneumonia or bronchitis.
