Brief Answer:
Soreness means inflammatory, hence not to worry much.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/68 - just discovered a very sore lump in the tongue - have had problems with acid reflux and sore throat - was on an antibiotic - took Amoxicillin, baking soda with water and mouth wash - wants to know whether to worry about - or is the part of the course with what is happening.

The things are interconnected to a certain extent.
The infection that cause sore throat can also cause inflammation/infection all over.
The painful lump on the tongue is usually due to a foreign body granuloma. Cancers do not cause sore in the initial stage. Hence not to worry too much.

I would advise you the following:
Continue on the antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory medicine till the soreness is present in the tongue.
Have liquid diet.
Have a regular review with your Doctor till cured.

I hope this answers your query, please feel free to ask for further relevant query if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
