Suggest Treatment For Persistent GERD While On Dexilant
Question: I have been diagnosed with GERD and have had no appetite for three months. I am taking Dexilant 60 mg and have been for a month. Since I started taking it I have burning in my chest around the heart. Could this be a side effect?

I read your question and i understand your concern. Burning in chest with already diagnosed case of GERD is a sequelae and presentation of it and it indicates your treatment is not complete. Its not just the medication which needs to be taken compliantly but a complete diet and lifestyle modifications are needed to be modified.
A good start is always losing weight, eating small frequent meals, doing exercise, delaying lying down after meal for at least 2 hours, keep head side of the bed 8 inches elevated , preferring fibers and vegetables and fluids and avoiding spices and alcohol, processed and canned foods. chocolates, sweets etc.

I have changes my doer to the diet recommended for GERD for past 3 months. I have no appetite-woukd that be consistent with GERD?

Yes loss of appetite is associated with GERD , it's due to reverse flow of stomach acid, it affect stomach motility some times ( peristalsis reduction) and that leads to such satiety issues. Just take some motility enhancing medication with GERD meds and eat small frequent meals as we discussed.
