Suggest Treatment For Painful Lump On Cheek

Posted on Mon, 19 Jan 2015
Question: I have a painful lump (bump) between my cheekbone and nose. When I rub my finger across it, it clearly does not feel like my other cheek. It's painful when I touch it. Almost a burning type sensation (and it feels like I have a pimple there but I don't. The skin around it is red in color. Do you know what this could be?

Brief Answer:
Infected follicle likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The small bump on the face that is red and painful is likely to be due to an infected hair follicle or a sebaceous gland. This is just like a pimple.
You can do a cold compress in the area and apply an over the counter antiseptic ointment like Neosporin-H. In case it is not helpful then do consult your physician for direct examination and a course of oral antibiotics.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
