Question: This is new to me so a bit nervous. As a 73 yr old woman, I have embarrassing problem of very raw, painful skin area in the upper to midway down of my butt crack. It is not a rash, nor does it seem to be the beginnings of a boil, etc. It feels more like a burn, with skin peeling off and being simply raw, burning, and quite painful. I have tried XXXXXXX the counter antibiotic ointment and vaseline petroleum jelly with no improvement. It only started about 3 days ago and nothing out of the ordinary to associate this with.

For an acute, painful skin condition I would like to consider a possibility of 'herpes zoster'. The other possibility that I would like to consider is that of 'Intertrigo'
Are there any fluid filled vesicles?bumps associated?
