Brief Answer:
It is neck sprain...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query. I will try my best to help you with this problem.

The sound you heard is because of the sudden movement of the vertebral joint below the skull. The pain is due to the sprain developed in the neck muscles following the violent movement of the neck. With adequate rest and medicines, the pain can be relieved.

Do not worry! This is a simple problem. I would suggest you to use OTC analgesic gel over the neck (around the region of pain). Try taking some muscle relaxants such as tizanidine and an OTC pain reliever such as ibuprofen or diclofenac, you will definitely feel better.

Secondly, give rest for the joint for few days; avoid exercise.

Hope I have answered your query. I will be available for the follow-up queries.

Brief Answer:
Sprain is a mild tear in the muscles or ligaments

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing back

The spine is supported by various muscles and ligaments. A sprain (stretch) or tear can occur in one or more of these soft tissues when a sudden movement, such as during neck strengthening exercises, a motor vehicle collision, etc., causes the neck to bend to an extreme position. This induces swelling in the traumatized muscle, making it stiff and tender.

Avoid neck movements till the pain subsides. Once the pain reduces, restart the neck exercises after a thorough warm up.

Multivitamins and neurobion may not be of much help. Pain relievers and muscle relaxant gel over the affected area will be more appropriate in treating this problem

Hope this clears your doubts.
