Suggest Treatment For Neck Pain After Injury

Question: 3 weeks ago I fell outdoors, hitting the ground with my chin first and truly rattling my head -- seeing bright lights and shooting objects. A week ago, I slid on our marble bathroom floor, striking the upper back of my skull. Now I have a sizable goose egg there. My neck is very sore/stiff from the first fall and I am having headaches, but seem otherwise okay. I am a 74 year old white female with a heart stent. Do I need to see a doctor. I am doing neck exercises and using ice packs on my neck and skull.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be no emergency.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Neck pain after trauma is best treated with rest and NSAID drugs.

Soft cervical collar when standing also helps.

The bump you refer on back of your skull is probably blood collection under skin that in most cases resolves with time.

If it expands in the following days, evacuation through a needle may be necessary and in this case, you should see your Doctor.

Your condition seems not emergent about seeing your Doctor right now, unless you use blood thinners for the stent.

In this case, a medical evaluation and probably CT scan of the head is necessary to evaluate probable late complications of head trauma such subdural hematoma.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
