Suggest Treatment For Muscular Spasms And Contraction In The Shoulder Area

default
Posted on Mon, 4 May 2015
Question: I've been playing a lot basketball as usual and lifting kind of heavy lately. I'm left handed and my left shoulder is really sore. What is a little unusual is my left hand is a little shaky at time when I am using it. This has been going on for about a week. Should I be concerned? As you know basketball can be taxing on the shoulder and well as weightlifting. I'm going to take about a week off from both of those activities. I also drink approximatley 2 cups of expresso per day during a normal week. Just trying to narrow down what may be causing my shaky hand issue

Brief Answer:
detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Considering the fact that this problem started around the time of the shoulder problem ,it can be related with the muscular spasms and contraction in the shoulder area.
Caffeine make the tremor worse ,but unless you have't increased the amount of coffee ,it is less likely that it is the cause of the hand tremor.

I would suggest to give it some time.Rest the area and avoid overusing this hand,
Take Ibuprofen or Tylenol for the pain.Warm compresses can help with the muscle contraction.

Right now the hand tremor doesn't seem of concern. It is persist for a long time or get worse, you may need to get it checked.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you need further help.

Kind regards,

Thanks so much. I will give your suggestions a try. Can I continue with light weights or push ups or should I just give it complete rest for a few days?

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

I am sorry for the delay in answering you.

I would suggest to avoid doing weights or push ups for some days .You can do some stretching exercises and massage the muscles of the shoulder to relax them.

Take care.
