Suggest Treatment For Muscle Spasm In Lower Back Due To Excessive Work Strain

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Jun 2014
Question: I'm in pretty good shape- been working out at the gym for 90 minutes a day 5-6 days a week since February. However, on Saturday I did 8 hours of house cleaning, which shouldn't be a big deal, and I'm in lots of pain since then. Haven't been able to go to the gym, limping around when I do walk. Taking 800mg of ibuprofen tid, using ice, and trying to rest for a bit, but I want to get back to the gym. Hamstrings, hips, lower back are worse than anything else. Not sure if I should see my doc. Electrolytes could be a bit off, but not this much.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of acute muscle spasm in lower back

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case with diligence.

As per your symptom and history, it is likely to be acute muscle spasm in lower back and hamstring due to excessive work strain. I generally start my patients with similar complaints on muscle relaxant, analgesic and neurotropic medications. Your local doctor will know about it.
Alternatively, give time to recover by resting adequately. Continue analgesic available over the counter and hot/ice fomentation. If feasible, you can also try physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy for quick relief.

If symptoms persist or worsen, you may need to do MRI spine and vit B12 / vit D3 level check.
Drink plenty of fluid, fruit juice and soup.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
