Suggest Treatment For Muscle Pain And Swelling In Arms Post Injury

default

Question: Three weeks ago I was in someone's front yard. A small yellow jacket stung me on the back of my right hand. The sting didn't hurt very much and it never itched, but my whole hand, wrist, and forearm swelled up for about a week. Also, the muscle that goes along the outside of my forearm up to my elbow hurt whenever I tried to lift something. It still hurts, and the muscle pain whenever I try to lift something has now risen halfway up to my shoulder on the outside of my arm. Do I need to be concerned? There are no visible signs from the sting anymore. It just hurts when I lift things with that arm.

Brief Answer:
will resolve, consider anti inflammatory med

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The allergic reaction that you experienced was severe with swelling involving almost the entire upper limb.

This inflammatory process would have caused reversible injury to the soft tissues such as a the muscles, tendons, ligaments in the upper limb including those areas that did not initially show swelling.

The use of an anti inflammatory pain killer , if the discomfort is severe, would help improve recovery.

This includes meds such as ibuprofen, cataflam, naproxen. In addition to reducing pain, these meds also reduce inflammation, so they may help you.

It can sometimes take up to 6 weeks for recovery in some persons.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
