Posted on Mon, 15 Feb 2016
Question: I banged my head 5 daysbago at work as i stood up i hit a wooden beam very hard it hit me on the top of the head. Since then i have had a mild headache but i have also had tingling in my extemeties. This is really worrying me. I suffer with severe health anxiety and i also feel dizzy. I do not want to go to my local hospital as it is very tiring. Is this something to be concerned about or would any bleed on the brain have gjven me more symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Head injury doesn't seems serious

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Welcome to HCM.
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Head injury may present with varied manifestation depending upon severity and mode of injury.

Brain imaging is required only with injuries associated with severe headache, vomiting, loss of consciousness, seizures, facial deviation, weakness, visual loss, hearing loss, bleeding via ear and nose.

In case you don't have these danger signs then you may take only pain killers (e.g. Tab PARACETAMOL 650Mg Three Times a Day after food) for 3-5 days and remain vigilant.

No need to consult or investigation.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Do get back to me for further queries.

Hope you recover early.
