Suggest Treatment For Male Pattern Baldness

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Jun 2017
Question: Hello Doc,
I am suffering from male pattern baldness and have been prescribed to take finasteride and mindoxil topical solution .
I see that finastride has some nasty side effects on men's health like impotence ,ED and loss of libido etc..
and there are some docs who say its safe while other say it may affect sexual health.
I am really confused if i should take this med or not ? Please help
Also what side effects can be caused by mindoxil . Also note that i had vit D def which was 6.54 ng/ml,which is NOW 21.6 ng/ml.
Does vit D def aggravate male pattern baldenss
I have been lately experiencing dizziness , which is triggered when i get up after sitting down for a long time or when i climb stairs or run .
Please suggest if this is coz of mindoxil

Brief Answer:
About male baldness treatment:

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Pattern hair loss in males is androgenic in etiology.
Antiandrogens such as finasteride are therefore useful in the management of the condition. Androgens, especially testosterone increases the libido. Any drug which interferes with the action of androgens is therefore assumed, by the lay person, to induce impotence (although it is reversible in most of the cases).
Minoxidil alone may be efficacious, so i would suggest to use minoxidil for some months, if not efficacious, add finasterid.
Vit D deficiency has many side effects that still are unknown, so trying to maintain it within the normal ranges has only good effects.
Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Rarely, minoxidil can be absorbed through the skin and cause side effects. Consult a physician to rule out any other possible pathology that causes the symptoms you described and do not use it until your physician will suggest it.

Regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
