Suggest Treatment For Lupus

Posted on Mon, 3 Nov 2014
Question: Hi, I was just told I have LUPIS Inhibitor or LUPIS Anticogulator. They said it was genetic and it was found by a blood test. Does this mean I have LUPIS? Is this a condition I had all my life? If so I have never been told.
I'm 67 and have concerns for my 4 children and 5 grandchildren.

Brief Answer:
Considerations

Detailed Answer:
hello and thanks for sending the question.

If you have lupus anticoagulant it is actually not necessarily genetic. It does not mean you have lupus.

I imagine they might have checked this because there was some concern about blood clotting. Sometimes lupus anticoagulant can be temporary. It sometimes will fade away over a number of months or years.

I think it would be a good idea for you to visit with a local hematologist to review the laboratory findings.

Again having lupus anticoagulant does not necessarily mean that you also have lupus.

Thanks again for sending your question. Please let us know if you have any additionalspecific concerns.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
