Suggest Treatment For Lump Near Vaginal Opening

default
Posted on Fri, 7 Aug 2015
Question: I'm a 73yr old woman in good health. For 2+ years I've had a hard, painless, marble-sized lump that pops out near the vaginal opening when I urinate or lean forward. I've been examined by 3 OB/GYN 's who could not find anything unusual at all. Had a colonoscopy and was told I do not have a rectocele either. When I lie on my back, it disappears and each has told me not to worry about it - could be a cyst, hasn't grown in 2yrs, etc. I'd love to ignore this and certainly don't want to be disbelieved - one more opinion would help.
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
May be a femoral hernia

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood your history about hte hard, painless and marble sized lump that ''pops'' out on urination or leaning forwards and disappears when you lie on back.

This is most suggestive of a femoral or other hernia and can be confirmed by clinical examination by a General Surgeon.

Once diagnosed, it is better to get this operated for 2 reasons:
- You get rid of the disease and
- get a confirmed diagnosis.

I hope this answers your query, please feel free to ask if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

This is something I would not have considered. Would a hernia be "loose" and, when sitting, bulge out between the vaginal and rectal area? I have had 3 surgeries in the past (ovarian twice, total hysterectomy due to endometriosis). The lump is not toward the front of the groin.

Brief Answer:
Can be a hernia or a mass.

Detailed Answer:
This is classical presentation of hernia, reducibility and expansibility.
Yes, a hernia can be loose and may get bulged out when siting and be present between vaginal and rectal area.
All the three surgeries were pelvic surgeries and can possibly be a reason for such a disease.
