Question: I had a Vit. D deficiency about 3 years ago, my Dr. put me on prescription Vit. D. I believe I have it again. My arms, legs and pelvis are sore. It feels like it's all the way to my bone. How much Vit. D can I take safely to bring it back up? My Dr. wouldn't do the blood test when I had my physical in December, 2015 and I believe
I've had it for several months. Please advise. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Vitamin D 1000-4000IU daily

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are being bothered by a low vitamin D levels. To replenish your stores of Vitamin D we recommend 1000-4000 IU daily. You are currently taking 2000 IU and that should be enough. I would also recommend getting out in the sun for 10-30 minutes a day. This will help convert the vitamin D to its effective form.

Along with Vitamin D you should also be taking calcium 1000-1200 mg daily to help promote good bone growth and prevent osteoporosis

In summary
1. 1000- 4000 IU vitamin D daily
2. Calcium 1000-1200 mg daily
3. 20-30 minutes of sunlight daily

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
