Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes In Groin Area

default
Posted on Fri, 26 Jun 2015
Question: Hi Doctor,

My Husband has developed some rashes in his crotch/groin area. There is no pain as such but there is an itching sensation. The rashes are present since last week. He is regularly washing the area with Dettol water and then applying betnovate C and boroline, but they do not seem to be helpful.

Earlier also he faced this issue. Actually there are many stretch marks in his crotch area and the rashes are developing in that area. Attached the picture herewith. Please suggest some medicine or cream? is this fungal infection or something else?

Thanks a lot doctor for your reply.
in the mean time my husband visited a dermatologist and he said that my husband is having fungal infection.
Doctor suggested a plain antifungal e.g clotrimazole 1 % cream i.e clotrin cream, twice daily.

In addition with weekly fluconazole 150 mg for 4-6 weeks.(to be taken orally )

Wanted to understand is erythema is also fungal infection? and can we apply the Clotrin cream and take the homeo medicines together..?

Brief Answer:
followup

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Both are same. Fungal infection is one of the type of erythema. Crotin is a good and effective medicine. Flucanazole is antibiotic and prefered in fungal infection.
You can take both the medicine together. There is no problem in doing so.
But there should be some time difference of atleast 20 min between each medicine .
Also advice him to avoid drinks and smoking for some time( If he takes).

Hope this is clear to you
Thanks
Dr Ratnesh
