Suggest Treatment For Irritation In The Vaginal Area While Suffering From Urinary Incontinence

default
Posted on Tue, 26 Sep 2017
Question: I have a mild bladder leak off and on and wear pads for incontinence. Everytime I urinate it burns the area and I think it is do to the irritation from the pads. I have had this for about 6 months off and on and have tried creams, monistate and other creams but it still burns every time I urinate. I have been drinking nothing but water so I don't think it is a urinary infection but do not know for sure.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
There doesn't need to exist urinary infection to cause this itching which is probably incontinence associated dermatitis. However it would be good to do urine analysis to check urine acidity, bacteria presence and protein. If there is infection, antibiotics should be used.

furthermore, you should use gentle linens to clean the area. Wash the area with a cleanser that balances your skin’s pH level. Add moisture back into your skin with hydrogel or petroleum-based products. Protect the area with products containing zinc oxide. Wear absorbent or containment pads to help manage any urine leakage.

And last and the most important is to treat urine leakage. some surgical methods may be some if there won't be improvement on medication therapy. Wish you good health. Regards
