Yes, there are many treatment available for this-
local ointment, NSIADs, specific physiotherapy and rest.
If no improvement then steroid injection can be helpful, but it all depends on severity of problem and can be assessed by clinician.

Is it common for this type of pain to reach up as high as the neck area?

I have it all over my back, But the Neck area is the worst
