Suggest Treatment For Infected Diaper Rashes
Question: My 7 week old daughter has a really bad diaper rash and I believe a yeast infection has also started. I got some "butt balm" from the doctor on call at the clinic 2 days ago but it's getting worse! It's so raw it's bleeding and there are lesions all over. I try and let her air out as much as possible, I'm using just cloth and water and dabbling her after each diaper change as well. I don't know what else to do! Help!!!!

Detailed Answer:
Hello again
Based on the image you uploaded, the excoriations involving the skin need urgent treatment. Stop using water and butt balm. Keep the area clean and dry. Siloderm Mixi should be applied thrice a day. It contains antifungal, anti-inflammatory and antibiotics, all three combined in a single cream. An alternative to this is Hydrozole which also contains a similar combination. If there is no improvement within 48 hours then a pediatric consultation would be necessary to consider in hospital treatment to avoid any superimposed bacterial infections.
