Suggest Treatment For High Levels On Von Willebrand Factor Antigen Test
Question: I took the von Willebrand Factor (vWF) Antigen test and it showed elevated or high results "168". The normal is 50-150. The vWF Activity results were normal range of 122 (50-150). My Prothrombin time and platelet function are normal (see attached).
I have a gum infection where I need to get two teeth removed and I'm under a lot of stress, could one of these be the reason my von Willebrand Factor (vWF) Antigen level is high? I also work out at the gym a lot and wonder if this could be another reason? I read that stress and physical exercise could be the reason for high normals as these are acute phase responses.
Also, I need to get two teeth removed next week and wonder since my antigen level is high will I have bleeding problems?

Increased levels of von Willebrand Factor is found in inflammation, exercise or stress, liver disease and vasculitis. It would be extremely difficult to identify the cause of factor increment without investigation. I will advise you to do liver function test and a CT scan of upper abdomen to find the cause of your increased von Willebrand Factor.
Decreased level of von Willebrand Factor may cause bleeding problems. In your case it is high and you can get your teeth removed and you will not have any problem.
