Suggest Treatment For Hemorroids

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Apr 2014
Question: I have hemorroids and because of an intestional problem two days ago, they started bleeding. I have excess gas even though I've been drinking a lot of fluids and eating soft food. I bleed about a palms worth of blood about every two hours when I have to expel gas (gently). I am a diabetic and missed two days of medication. This is my third day and I was able to take my medications today for the first time. I need to make a doctor's appointment obviously, but was wondering if this is an emergency room issue.

Brief Answer: if no complications can stay at home Detailed Answer: HI, thanks for using healthcare magic Hemorrhoids can normally be managed at home unless they are thrombosed. Thrombosed hemorrhoids are very very painful. A thrombosed hemorrhoid is one that in which a clot is present within the hemorrhoid. Another reason for emergency visit would be if you are experiencing symptoms because of the blood loss- shortness of breath, chest pain, palpitations, dizziness, clammy If thrombosis is not likely based on the level of discomfort you are experiencing and there are no symptoms suggesting excessive blood loss, then you can consider home treatment. This consists of : (1) sitz baths- if you soak in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes at least 2 to 3 times a day You can add items to the water such as salt, epsom salt, witch haze (2)topical pain medication for only a few days. Only use for a few days because you don't want to decrease the sensitivity of the anus (3)topical steroid if they are protruding and inflamed. Hydrocortisone is available over the counter (4) pain medication such as paracetamol (5)use wipes and dab when you use the bathroom, don't wipe,it will further inflame the hemorrhoids Another reason for hospital care would be very high blood sugars which can occur because it was difficult to take your meds. If you find it difficult to get your levels to decrease then you may need the er visit. I agree that you should be assessed by your doctor as soon as you can obtain any appointment I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
