Suggest Treatment For Genital Herpes

Posted on Sat, 27 Sep 2014
Question: I have had genital herpes for a few decades, rarely a breakout. Last one was several years ago. New job, new man, new stress! So I had a breakout on my tailbone and started to take the Valacyclovir as presecribed by my MD. The area is no longer blistered....dry, scaly, put still pink. Is it best to wait until the area is totally clear to have sexual activity?

thank you
doctor

Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
If the lesion is near tail bone and if there is no physical contact of the area with the partner then there is no need to worry.
Also the lesion has dried up and crusted there is Very less chance of it being active lesion .
If you or partner is too anxious then can avoid.
You can use condom also additionally though may not be of full use.
Please get back If you have any clarifications .
Thank you
