Question: My daughter has recently been in the hospital for liver failure and while she was in there they had to draw fluid off her stomach.. Since she has been in the recovery at home the fluid has been gathering again to the point that they are going to have to draw it off with a needle.. What would be the reason for this and how can the issue be resolved..

Brief Answer:
liver failure causes repeated fluid collections to occur due to low protein

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

With liver failure , there would be repeated collection of fluid.

This is one of the more common symptoms/signs of liver failure.
It would also occur in failure of the kidney or heart.

Liver failure is associated with a decrease in certain proteins, albumin and globulin. Low proteins levels within the blood vessels causes fluids to move out of the blood vessels into the surrounding tissues.

This presents as swelling or fluid build up.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
