default
Posted on Mon, 17 Aug 2015
Question: I am suffering from fever with red boils on my body. I have consulted a local doctor today morning & he suspects it to be chickenpox. He has suggested

1. TETRACYCLINE HYDROCHLORIDE CAPSULES IP 100MG
2. Cetrizine Tablets IP (10MG)
3. PARACETAMOL TABLETS
4. VITAORANGE PLUS
5. DRIED ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE GEL, MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE AND SIMETHICONE SUSPENSION SYRUP - ANTACID, DEMULCENT, ANTIFLATULENT

All these medicines to be taken twice a day.

6. CALAMINE LOTION to be applied externally on the body twice a day.

Could you please check the appropriateness of the suggested medications & advise if they are appropriate

If not, could you please suggest medications as per your knowledge?

Brief Answer:
oral antivirals are also given

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.
I have read your query.
I understand your concern.
Chicken pox usually presents with high grade fever and fluid filled lesions over body involving trunk mainly.
Diagnosis is mainly clinical. In such cases, I prefer to advise oral antivirals like Acyclovir / Valacyclovir to my patients which are started within 24-48hours of eruptions.
Alongwith oral antihistaminics and oral antibiotics are advised.
Your doctor has given you a good prescription. I would like to advice oral antivirals also.
You should discuss this with your doctor.
I hope it helps you .
Take care.

Brief Answer:
you need prescription for oral antivirals by your doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome back.
Actually here as a doctor I can give you my best possible advice but cannot give you prescription.
For prescription, you should consult your doctor as such drugs should be taken under supervision of your doctor.
You may talk to him amd discuss about it. Oral antivirals limit the disease activity and shortens the duration of disease.
If you have any further query, you may please ask me .
Thanks

Hello,

My doctor has today given me prescription for acyclovir

Further my doctor has also suggested application of neopry ointment / mopry ointment.  I am not sure of the name.

This is not available either at the hospital or at any other local medical stores.

1. Could you please advise the correct name?

2. Whether this would be helpful in chicken pox?

3. Any other ointment / brand in replacement of this, since this is not available.

Regards
doctor

Brief Answer:
mopry/ T bact / mucibact

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Yes mopry would be helpful. It contains mupirocin 2 percent. It is available with various brands like Tbact cream/ mopry/ mucibact cream.
You should apply this over the lesions twice daily.
I hope I am able to solve your query.
In future also if you have any further query, you may ask me directly by writing on my profile or you may simply mention my name with the query. It would be directed to me by the system.
Take care.
