Suggest Treatment For Fever And Infected Cyst On The Shoulder
Question: I have what was said to be a infected cyst in my left shoulder .. It's not getting better I was giving antiboitic cream from the minute clinic and have seen a dr yet but I'm going on vacation tomorrow .. Not a lot has drained from it .. I have done warm clothes there is a red line coming down from it and a swollen lump below it .. My fever had gotten higher since but not much ( 99.3) any suggestions

Read and reviewed your query with the updated pictures in context to your health concerns of non resolving infected hair follicle on left shoulder.
My opinion-Incompletely drained Boil with pus on left Shoulder-
In the given situation-You seem to suffer from-Acutely Infected skin Boil with Pus discharge on left shoulder.The lump under it is due to the inflamed / indurated subcutaneous tissue around infected hair follicle-i.e.perifolliculitis.
ON reviewing the pictures,you seem to have incompletely drained abscess in hair follicle on left shoulder, mostly after friction.
Infection in the boil is not responding to locally applied dosage of Mupirocin cream.
Do's Suggested-
Dear,as you are worried about high fever which is not relieving even after antibiotic,I would suggest you to treat it with following changes-
Give Cold compresses locally -which would keep its spread in control
Add Tab Ibuprofen-400 mg x 2 times a day x 5 days
Add Tab Ofloxacin-200 mg x 2 times a day x 5 days
Above medicines to be scripted from family doctor to avoid local conflict of OTC and prescribed medicine.
You should come out of the pain and fever in 2-3 days time.Whole boil should resolve in 5 days time.
If it does not reduce in 5 days treatment,to avoid recurrence of fever and pus discharge, surgical drainage from a Surgeon, would be needed in your case.
