Suggest Treatment For Excessive Sweating And Headaches

default

Question: I have been having problems with excessive/excessive sweating, headaches, and extreme exhaustion. We did tons of tests, and everything is normal (CBC,ACTH,Calcium,Ferritin,PTH, Cortisol,Glyco Hgb,Free T4,TSH,LH,FSH)except catecholamines fractionated, urine 24hr shows norepinephrine more than 3x to high. PCP, NP. ordered MRI w/o contrast of abdomen looking for pheochromocytoma. It showed I had a fatty liver & bilateral renal cysts, no adrenal tumor. MRI of brain showed low lying cerebellar tonsils without foramen crowding, but no masses. Can I just forget about going any further with this before they find anything else wrong with me, or do I need to worry I have a tumor in my neck or chest? I cannot find any other reason for my norpinephrine to be so elevated. What do I do?
I am 47yr female with hypertension and tachycardia x 10+ yrs , hypothyroid, chronic ptsd ,aces
I take propranolol, triamterene/hctz, levothyroxine, trazadone, and paxil.
I have become obese in past seven yrs with 80 lb weight gain from I believe undiagnosed thyroid. I don't live to eat ! Non smoker since 2006, no drugs, no alcohol, minimal caffeine
I am not functioning with this exhaustion. I cant even shower without excessive sweating, exhaustion, shortness of breath, and pounding heart. I have always been active and this is killing me. Please advise.

Brief Answer:
Nuclear scan

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Sorry to hear about your symptoms. False positive urine metanephrines are common especially in Stress/anxiety. However, in view of hypertension and palpitations, i must say that we shouldnt ignore it eventhough the MRI was negative.

May i suggest you to meet an endocrinologist and discuss your issues. A nuclear scan ( MIBG scan) is a good option. If that is negative, we can relax.

Regards
Binu
