Brief Answer:
This is a common problem.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Adenoid hypertrophy is usually seen between the ages of 3 and 7 in children. After the age of 7-8 years, the adenoids atrophy and disappear by the age of 12-15 years. I am assuming that she has been diagnosed with the help of an X-ray. Compare her weight with her height and as such it seems to be in the normal range.

2. Your doctor has prescribed the correct medication. You can add supervised steam inhalation where you sit with her for steam inhalation. Mometasone (Metaspray) has the lowest absorption among the nasal steroid sprays and hence is the best for use in children. Avoid using the spray for a few days if she get a fever.

3. Be patient and review after a month. Upload both X-rays here or directly at bit.ly/Dr-Sumit-Bhatti for an accurate assessment.

4. Most children respond to this treatment and do not require surgery.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
