Question: I had a bladder inf Dec 24 and was prescribed Ciproflaxicin for 5 days. I showed another one on January 5th with Leukocytes of 500 and WBC 11-20 and was prescribed Macrobid 100 mg for 7 days. I still have burning. Urine culture showed organism 1 - skin flora under 10 m cfu/l. How can I still have an infection?

Brief Answer:
dysuria not infection

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have had burning on urination and told you had urinary tract infections. You have completed 2 rounds of antibiotics but still have burning. Your recnet urine culture showed skin flora under 10m cfu/l. This is a contamination not a urine infection and since it is even under 10m this also goes against having a UTI. I thing you have a little urethritis. To treat this I recommend that after urinating that you wipe front to back. most women wipe back to front which allows bad bacteria to move to the urethra. Also you may want to change the pH of your urine by drinking cranberry juice. This may also reduce the sensitivity.

I hope this helps answer your question. please contact us again if you have any additional questions
