Question: I was sitting at a bar and had just finished my 1st beer when my vision suddenly started to spin, literally spin as if the room was a picture on a board and someone spun that board around and around. at a fairly rapid pace. I don't do drugs of any kind and had only 1 beer. I stood up and had no balance issues and felt no other effects besides the vision spinning. it stopped after 5-10 secs standing and started to resume when I sat back down. I stood up again and it stopped and didn't occur again

Brief Answer:
If the symptoms recur you need to consult your primary care physician.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic

I am Dr Dadapeer k an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.
I reviewed your history.

These symptoms of vision spinning indicate an episode of dizziness. Most commonly these are caused by hypotension, hypoglycaemia, hypovolemia.... Alcoholic drinks can also cause this.

Hence no need to be worried as of now, but if the symptoms recur then you need to consult your primary care physician for evaluation.

Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.

Thank you

I had no actual "dizziness" or lack of balance and the onset was very rapid. I weigh 275 lbs and had never experiecned anything like this before. especially with almost no alcahol in. the sensation was very very different than being drunk or experiencing a "head rush" as Had no sensation of being off balance. I was having a perfecly coherent conversation with the person next to me the whole time this was happening. should I see someone about this even if the symptoms reoccur? I am concerned because this was a terrifying sensation. the best way to describe what it felt like would be to stand in a closet with the light on and spin around in place while staring forward the whole time only not getting dizzy

Brief Answer:
We need to rule out transient ischemic attack.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for the follow up question.

From the description you have provided this appears like transient ischemic attack.
Along with hypotension, hypovolemia.... and other causes I mentioned before we need to rule out vascular causes like atherosclerosis, carotid artery diseases....

These investigations needs to be done if the symptoms recur.

Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.
