Question: Hello,
I have the lab results for a stool sample. It says Fecal lactoferrin and or fecal leukocytes was detected in the sample. I was given Cipro 500mg to take twice a day. That was on the 27th. Still no change in my stool, mostly water.
I am looking for answers.
Thank you very much for your time.

Brief Answer:
may need some probiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

If we assume that this is bacterial diarrhea, even then only antibiotics may not be enough always. Sometimes we need to give probiotics or good bacteria, eg vsl3. You can discuss with your doc regarding this.

And we also need to look at other causes like parasites, lactose intolerance, etc. For this another stool sample with culture, pH, reducing substance assay needs to be done.

Hope this helps. I will be available for follow up.
Regards
