Suggest Treatment For Depression Inspite Of Using Xanax
Question: I am 50 years old and have been on and off depression medication for the last 14 years they work for a while and then I am very depressed again, right now I am only taking Xanax it helps my anxiety,,I cry for the last month I have been very very depressive , I get angry ,I cry , I feel alone I have two daughter 9 and 15 years old that need me ,I can't shake this l.I don't want to be like this and my daughters have seen the change in me ,this is the worst I have been.

Hello,
Presently you are taking only xanax which can never get you out of depression. You shold start a proper anti depressant , like - sertraline or escitalopram. For your age any of the two will be good.
Take my advice, if you want that you are able o take care of your lovely daughters nicely- donot ever stop the drug now.

you will need it all your life: if you want to get out of this on off depression permanently.
There is no intellegence in inviting something bad deliberately by stopping the medicne.
So, start the meds and become better and continue with it.

You had taken effexor etc..these all were proper medicine but- the point is you dont continue with them...and develop depression on and off..
Now, you must continue with the proper anti anxiety- anti depressant medicine at a minimum efective dose and get rid of this problem permanently.
You should talk to your doctor regarding the molecules I have mentioned ( they are safe and light compared to effexor and amitriptaline for your present age) and continue with the meds .
Donot go for xanax..it is addictive and more harmful.
