Posted on Wed, 12 Oct 2016
Question: Sir i am facing hair fall problem for the past 5 years ( but not severe). But my hair is thin and not much dense especially in the front .(I lost hair on both corners) .so I consulted a dermatologist . he suggested me to use morr f 5 % and androanagen tablet. In the book itself it was mentioned that it has some side effects. So my question is that can I use this lotion and it has really any side effect (particularly ***) ? Will it be useful for my problem? Will it enhance hair regrowth? Or should I leave it as a nature's gift.
Age : 24
Note : more hair in hands and legs and I have dandruff.

Brief Answer:
male pattern hair loss with dandruff, continue treatment as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome to HCM
I am Dr Dinah and will be answering your questions today.
Since you have not mentioned any details about yourself, from your type of history and medicines given, that you are a male patient.
First thing to consider is if you have a family history of hair loss, if there is male baldness in the family. In this case you will be more prone to similar problems.
Dandruff and greasy scalp can also case a bit of hair fall.
Your hair thinning from the front and side is in favour of this type called androgenic alopecia.
Morr F 5% solution is a good option for you as it helps in such hairfall. You will have to apply it regularly as advised for a couple of months to see good results. The tablets will add to the hair growth.
I would advise you to continue the treatment as advised for you. Along with that you can use an anti dandruff shampoo twice a week.
Regarding the side effects, all drugs will have a pamphlet with possible side effects mentioned. Morr solution for applying has very few and rare side effects, similar to any other drug like allergies, redness, rashes, occasional burning.
Some patients do notice a bit of hair fall when they stop the medicine after long term use, but the advantage is usually more than the hair loss experienced.
If you do have any doubts regarding use, or if you have any other illnesses, do mention this to your consulting dermatologist before using it. In case you have any serious reaction, stop it immediately and consult the doctor, similar to any other drug allergy.
Otherwise, it is safe for application. It will help your hair growth. If you are worried about using it and have no issues with your present hair loss, you are free to start treatment whenever you are comfortable.
Hope this helps you.
Do feel free to contact me with any doubts or clarifications.
Have a nice day and take care.

Thanks for your valuable advice mam. Sorry I forgot to mention my details and you are correct that I am a male of 25 yr from XXXXXXX you answered that it has very rare side effects, I am happy about this. I would also like to know whether it has any negative effects on s*x ( bcz unmarried). U also mentioned that patient do notice hair loss when they stop this after long term usage, in this case hair fall will be more severe ? Should I continue for the entire life? Or what should I do? Finally suggest me some ways to reduce stress.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Continue the treatment as advised. No significant side effects on scalp use

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir, thanks for getting back to me.
Morr F solution has minoxidil and finasteride, both have very good effects on hair growth. As for decreased libido or sexual dysfunction, it is seen with finasteride tablets. It is very negligible with these low concentrations in the solution. That is why solution is given now instead of tablets.
Also it is not permanent.
use it for 1-2 months and check your improvement. If it is working well for you, then it would be best for you to continue further.
Consult a dermatologist anytime you wish to stop and they will advise you regarding the correct way to stop it slowly. A little hairfall can be expected on stopping.
As for stress, first find out what causes you stress everyday. Take adequate time to eat well, drink fluids, sleep 7-8 hours and do any exercise regularly. Depends on what is comfortable for you. LEarn breathing and relaxation techniques you can do at work as well.
Hope this helps. Feel free to get back with any doubts.
