Suggest Treatment For Cramps In Upper Left Abdomen, Black Stool And Bloating

default
Posted on Tue, 26 May 2015
Question: Hi, Today I have been having cramps in the upper left abdomen. i need to lie flat out to get any relief when they occur. My stool is very black, and solid and small. And I have had to move my bowels six times today. I am becoming more bloated as the day moves on. I have not been constipated.
ten years ago, the same area hurt, but I had bloody stools. They surmise I had irritated my stomach with NSAIDs at the time.
I have been on a short course of steroids because my allergies were out of control. I took my last prednisone on Wed.
Shoud I be concerned, ride this out, or get to me docs office before he closes at 7?

Brief Answer:
May be a bleeding stomach ulcer, rush to ER

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.

This is indeed urgent as per the history your have provided.
Black stools, solid and small; cramps in left upper abdomen, need to lie flat, short course of steroid all suggest that you may be having severe gastritis or a bleeding stomach ulcer and you need to attend at the Doctor's office / ER

You may need an Urgent Upper GI Endoscopy to see the exact position and may need an active therapy if there is am active bleeding.
At the Same time you need to take PPI, Antacid, chilled water orally. No food please.

I hope this answers your query.
