Suggest Treatment For Constipation And Severe Stomach Pain

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Mar 2015
Question: Good afternoon. my symptoms started acutely saturday eve. At first I thought perhaps constipation and the pain was near immobilizing at times, depending on my movement. I did take a laxative and have had bowel movement and the pain is less severe, however is still there. It does resemble pancreatitis. If the pain continues to decrease and subside completely, should I be concerned? If the pain does not subside, how long should I let it go before seeking treatment?

Brief Answer:
You should consult your doctor even if the pain is gone.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Where is your pain located? Do you have any nausea, vomiting? Does the pain radiate to back?

You should not wait with diagnostic and treatment even if the pain disappears. Pain related to bowel movement can indicate some large intestine issue. Please not that over the age of 50 the risk of colon cancer significantly rises. As there is no specific symptoms of early cancer, any abdominal pain, stools problem should be alarming.
That is why I suggest you to consult your doctor and do not wait any longer. Blood work, abdominal ultrasound and urine analysis should be done at first. Colonoscopy should be scheduled.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
