default
Posted on Thu, 5 Jan 2017
Question: I have IBS with constipation. I was prescribed Linzess and Miralax. I have a great deal of abdominal pain. My doctor said I could use donnatol to help with cramps. It didn't help so I used Vicodin for pain. What will happen to me. XXXX

I did have a bowel movement this morning but have severe cramping and spasms now. I used Vicodin because it helps with pain. Does it cause more severe constipation?

Brief Answer:
No vicodin, supportive care for IBS

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern, COnstipation predominant IBS can be very bothersome and painful cramps are inevitable so i can understand your pain . However using vicodin to relieve the pain was not wise as vicodin has opioids painkillers in it and that worsens the spasm and constipation. No worries, just stop taking further vicodin, use diet lifestyle adjustments to help with IBS symptoms, yogurt with peppermint, small frequent meals, avoid dairy products, spices, stimulants, tea, coffee, alcohol, beverages etc. use more fiber and fluids. COntinue with miralax and linzess. Take some tylenol for the pain. I am sure IBS symptoms will improve.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
