Suggest Treatment For Constipation And Rectal Bleeding

Question: I have always had a problem with constipation, since my first child was born 26 years ago. It is has been off and on and doctors all have said over the counter meds. Well I year ago I went to Korea, on the flight and while I was there I had a lot of rectum bleeding. Again that comes and goes. However, for the last few days I have been getting abdominal pain. My husband and I just lost our insurance over obama care. So I really can not even afford the doctor. I know this is not good, but I am truly out of choices. Any suggestions

Brief Answer: You need proper clinical exam & investigations. Detailed Answer: Hello XXXX Thanks for writing to HCM You need proper clinical examination and investigations. You can't ignore rectal bleeding,this is important due to your age.You need to be examined by a surgeon.Rectal bleeding may be due to many reasons like piles,polyps,tumour etc. Investigations include Routine hemogram,Stool (routine and microscopic examination)Random blood sugar(RBS),Liver function test(LFT),Renal function test(RFT),Lipid profile,Urine RE/ME,Ultrasound of abdomen.Further investigations like colonoscopy can be done if needed. You also need proper treatment for depression.Depression may cause constipation. You should take plenty of fibres in your diet in the form of salad etc. You should do regular exercise,walking and if there is any stress factor,try to reduce it.
