Suggest Treatment For Congestion And Vomiting In A Baby

Question: 9 month old infant stated with congestion and gagging and vomiting at 6 months. Started Allegra 2x
daily and vomiting and congestion improved. Allegra stopped and it returned. Know he has large adenoids.
Pediatrician wants to send for swallow test. Also has eczema-- Do you concur with recommendation or could something else be tried first?

Going by your description, it seems that your child is having an allergic reaction called post nasal drip which is causing him to feel excess phlegm in his throat and it feels like gagging. It is related to the enlarged adenoids. Eczema is also an allergic reaction and thus related. I would prefer the swallow test first. You can discuss with your doctor about getting an allergy test done.

The allergic reactions as well as the adenoids regress with increase in age. But if the symptoms are severe enough, appropriate treatment has to be administered.
