Question: have been taking Pantoprazole Sod 40mg for once a day for about a week. now on 2nd day of pain in center of chest below breast bone. Also feel a little headache and a little warm an nauseous. Did have some pain in a aforementioned area(reason drug prescribed) but now worse. Should I stop taking Panotprazole? Would something like GasX be a better alternative/help?
Have also felt constipated. A stomach flu with vomiting has been going around here.

Brief Answer:
You need a check for the heart to rule out problems with it

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.

There are a few causes of the chest discomfort and one of them is the reflux of acid from the stomach and pantoprazole should help a lot with it.

Because pantoprazole is not helping and actually you are getting worse, I would recommend you to have a check with your doctor as sometimes the heart might cause similar symptoms and we might get confused.

I would recommend you to have an ECG done and if you have not checked your sugar levels, lipids, and some routine blood tests we do every 1-2 years (CBC, creatinine, ALT, etc) I would recommend you to have them done.
A chest x-ray and a heart ultrasound might be done also.

Make sure you avoid exercising till you see your doctor and set the appointoment with him as soon as possible.
Have frequent small meals during the day, it is better to have 4-5 small meals than 2-3 big meals in a day- this will help with the reflux if this is causing problems.
If you are smoking or using alcohol you should quit- they hurt the stomach and cause more problems with the heart also.

Sometimes the pain under the breast bone might be caused by the ribs also- we call it costocondritis and if you have pain while you press your breastbone this might be the cause of it- but you will need a doctor visit to make sure of the cause.

I hope this is helpful to you and answers to your question.
I wish you will get better soon.

Kind Regards
