Brief Answer:
Celiac disease is not a serious problem

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I can understand your concern for you daughter's health.
1) Celiac disease is associated with digestion process in small bowel. Person might feel abdominal heaviness/discomfort, diarrhea due to improper digestion.
2) This disease flare up from eating particular type of food which vary from person to person and therefore foods which aggravates symptoms must be avoided. Yes this restriction for particular food will be lifelong.
3) It is not essential to continue medication all the time. She can take intestinal digestive enzyme supplementation to support digestion process. Medication in this disease is to relieve symptoms only, not for cure because this disease is autoimmune type of disease.
4) Prognosis in term of survival is excellent as this disease affect only digestion process. It does not have any impact on lif survival from any complication developed from this disease.
5) No. Hospitalization would be rare an require to treat complications of this diseases only i.e. small bowel infection, dehydration from severe vomiting or diarrhea, intractable abdominal pain.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts then I would be happy to help you.
Have a good day!
