Brief Answer:
Transmission of infection is a possibility

Detailed Answer:
Hi Dear Madam,

Welcome and thanks for contacting this portal!
I am Dr V XXXXXXX I am a Sr Dermatologist and I will guide you to resolve the problem.

It is possible that one partner may be a carrier of the bacteria and the other partner catches the infection with resultant manifestation. Carriers typically do not suffer but carry the germs that are ready for transmission.

It is advisable to get some investigations done as well as to take steps to check the infection in both the partners simultaneously. Treating one person only might lead to temporary respite only.

For a case like this, I would have recommended the following

1 To get a pus sample examined for culture and sensitivity from the point of view of identifying the causative organism and to know their sensitivity to certain antibiotics

2 To maintain good personal hygiene

3 Mupirocin cream several times a day. I noted that it is already being used by you and I advise its continuation.

4 To await reports of pus sample and initiate appropriate antibiotic.

5 To defer sexual activity till normal situation is regained.

6 To have blood sugar levels tested.

Hope you have noted these points carefully and will take suitable measures to get the problem cured.

I will be glad to help at every stage.

With best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Staphylococcus is the most likely reason

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Welcome with your query.

The most common reason for such an infection is Staphylococcus aureus which is a pathogen known to be present in some individuals in carrier state.

To treat the infection, I have suggested that hygiene, Mupirocin, Pus culture test confirmed Antibiotics or Linezolid: 600 twice daily (for resistant cases), and anti-inflammatory agents like ibuprofen are suitable options after it is confirmed that the same organism is present and is susceptible to this antibiotic or some other antibiotic as per report.

To treat carrier stage application of Mupirocin to external nares and anogenital areas twice daily for four weeks normally are good enough to eradicate the infection.

With these measures one can treat both the infection and carrier state.

I hope you find it useful
Best wishes. Please let me know if you need more information.
