Suggest Treatment For Bloating Up Of Stomach With Belching And Nausea

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Feb 2016
Question: I wake up in the morning with a lot of stomach bloating, belching, a bit of a nauseated feeling and my mouth is very dry. The feeling usually subsides thru the day. Also a coming and going feeling high in the middle of my back (betw the shoulder blades). I don't have any chest pains or anything that feels heart related. I have been kind of anxious due to some strees and financial issues.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Your symptoms don't seem to be cardiac related.

Gastroesophageal reflux could be the cause of your symptomatology. Other gastro intestinal conditions like dyspepsia, gastritis or an irritable bowel syndrome can not be excluded too.

You should know that anxiety could also exacerbate gastrointestinal symptoms.

I recommend taking some PPI like omeprazole, lansoprazole or an antacid.

I would also advise you to avoid spicy food for some days and caffeine or soda drinks.

If the problem persists, I recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing some blood lab tests (complete blood count, kidney and liver function tests, blood electrolytes) and a fibrogastroscopy.

Hope to have been of help!

Wishing all the best for the New Year!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri

Thank you for your helpful response doctor. I will monitor my condition but unfortunately I don't have medical insurance due to my financial condition, so I really worry about going to a hospital and incurring an un-payable XXXXXXX

You are welcome!

Detailed Answer:
I am glad to have been helpful!

Even though you can not afford going to the hospital, I would advise you to follow my recommendations regarding the diet modifications and antiacid or PPI intake.

Your situation doesn't seem to be a medical emergency. So you don't have to worry about any possible complications for the moment. It is just some days of gastrointestinal troubles.

Greetings!

Dr. Iliri
