Question: I have hep-c type 1A
I also have a very bad habit of picking my lips and peeling the dry chapped skin off, no matter what I do my lips are always dry and cracked, this is no question I know, however about 36 hours ago my bottom lip started to swell in one stop and looked kinda like a blister but not for long, my entire bottom lip (only bottom) is covered in these round lesions that look almost like cigarette burns, oh and did I mention the pain,? No, well it is incredible, defiantly a 10 on the pain scale. Help me, somehow.

Brief Answer:
Oral and topical acyclovir

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for posting on HCM.
I have reviewed your history and pictures.
It seems like you have got a viral skin rash over lips called Herpes labialis.
Herpes labialis is a viral infection caused by Human simplex virus and it leads to multiple blisters and tiny ulcers over lips and oral mucosa.
I would suggest you to consult your dermatologist for proper management.
In my patients of herpes labialis, I suggest oral acyclovir 200mg five times a day for 5-7 days.
Apply acyclovir ointment thrice a day for a week or so.
For pain you may take oral analgesics like diclofenac.
I am sure you will be fine with the treatment highlighted above.

Let me know if you require any more assistance from my side.
Thank you

That's crazy I have never had a fever blister or cold sore or anything defiantly not herpes. I been with the same guy for almost 6 years. What could have caused this?

Brief Answer:
Herpes can be acquired from infected articles

Detailed Answer:

Yes I can understand your apprehension here but its not necessary to have a previous history of cold sore and also it not a necessary that you can acquire herpes only from close physical contact with infected guy, it can also be acquired by chance from infected articles like linen, or by close proximity to infected individuals especially children.

Hope you got my point here.

Thank you
