Posted on Fri, 4 Apr 2014
Question: Hi Doctor, When I drive 2 wheeler on bad roads I get back pain (expected). I take hot water massage in the morning and gets relief. It is manageable, but would like to take your expert opinion. Avoiding 2 wheeler is not possible always in Bangalore traffic :) Appreciate any suggestion in terms of precaution/better methods to reduce pain. Thanking you, XXXX

Brief Answer: Lumbosacral belt Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for your query. It is very clear that avoiding long ride will put an end to the problem but I agree that is out of consideration. Do wear a Lumbosacral belt during riding this will prevent strain in the spine and help to prevent the pain. Also exercising regularly will help to strengthen the muscle and help avoiding worsening of the condition. For getting from the pain you can apply Diclofenac gel twice daily on the affected parts. Regular massage of the lower back will surely help. Wish you good health. regards,
