Suggest Treatment For Allergic Rash On Penis Head Due To Antibiotics

default
Posted on Mon, 15 Sep 2014
Question: Ok. I am taking an antibiotic that I seem to be allergic to. It's causing me a rash on my legs. Worse that that, it the rash on the head of my penis. It's sore and a little wet and weepy, but I figure that's because its on the glans. Is that normal? Or should I look for some other cause? It has happened several times over the past few years and it's when I take an anti biotic and prednisone for bronchitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal
I have read your query and will try to help you with it

Many antibiotics are known to cause allergic reactions.
In fact almost always, antibiotics cause some problem/side effect in people susceptible to it.
Besides issues of allergy are more prevalent in bronchitis and COPD.

Medicines like predinisolone usually help in subsiding the reaction.
You however have the effect despite the steroidal cover.
I would therefore suggest stopping the antibiotic and meeting your treating doctor to change the antibiotic.
Ofcourse, since you are on steroidal cover, some antibiotic cover is essential.

I hope this information is useful to you and you find it 'helpful'
