Suggest Treatment For Accidental Cut On Leg While Having Severe Edema

Question: Hi I have a 92 year old mom with hx lad rca stents heart function 30% both of her legs have severe Edema she helped my brother with yard work cut her leg on dirty iron rod it started weeping very bad she also punctured the other le I have been a great nurse with my degree the nurse treated me like I was crazy for bring her I she told me to get her dressed and she could go both her legs were weepin dripping at a constant flow I told all of the Doctors and the nurse I brought her in from the to open areas on her XXXXXXX not for the edem any way the nurse told me to get her dressed and we could go I refused to leave without a tetanus sho and a dressing on both legs she did it but told me I was wrong and should leave it open I felt awful and degraded I told her if the weeping stopped I would leave it open but not while it was dripping from both legs am I wrong?

I am so sorry to hear about this heart condition your mom has and the recent cut. To me, you are totally correct in doing so and no one should make you think it wasn’t necessary. That is your mom and you want nothing but the best for her which might be difficult for others to understand. Certainly, you will not want to see water dripping form your mothers leg. Dressing it to allow that the water is immediately absorbed is the best thing to do and avoid any insightful watermarks on her leg. Be calm and relax knowing your acted in her best interest and disregard all other thoughts the others had. What matters most if the fact that your mom’s cut has been dressed and she fully protected against any possible tetanus.
