Brief Answer:
The medicines are good and sufficient

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Most often fevers in children are due to viral cause. Sometimes there is an associated bacterial infection as well. Your doctor has played safe and given an antibiotic with good respiratory coverage. Viral fevers do not respond to antibiotics and irrespective of its use, the infection takes 5-7 days to resolve. Till then fever may occur from time to time and all you can do is to give some medication like meftal to bring down the temperature. Meftal is a very good medicine and please depend on it. However, meftal can cause gastric irritation and thereby vomiting. In that case you can suitably alternate it with Crocin Syrup (paracetamol) which has less side effects but lesser duration of action.

Please understand that it is no use growing apprehensive. The fever will gradually come down. No other medication is required.
