Question: Hi Doctor,

I suffer from nuerosis anxiety with depressive proneness and obsessive traits as diagonised by registered psychologist. I some times feel guilty that, I might get psychosis like Bipolar,Schizophrenia.

Is it fine to not feel guilty and take everything lightly? Even if I become mad one day, I can take the pills from psychatrist and just take it lightly without feeling guilty right? Kindly explain. Also I get relieved when I say about my anxiety to loved ones. Is it ok to tell close friends about this anxiety.

Hi Doctor,

I use to sit next to a person with kaposi sarcoma at office. I don't know whether he has HIV/HepB/HepC. But his Saudi visa was denied for some reasons. When I asked about his HIV/HepB/HepC status, he did not disclose anything. I use to worry that I might get HIV/HepB/HepC from him, when I mistakenly use his already used handkerchief or tissue or when there is a saliva splash directly into my eyes while talking.

The doctor initially prescribed me with Rexipra and Risdone 0.5 mg once a day. Since he prescribed risperidone, I initially thought I might have psychosis like Bipolar or something. But later the doctor confirmed, he prescribed risperidone for my reassurance seeking behavior and that he would prescribe risdone levels 2mg for adults with psychosis daily. I also had one of my grand father's younger brother with psychosis may be bipolar, but I am not sure.

Since then I started developing a phobia for psychosis.

My own Grand father and his lineage, like my father his brothers, my brother, cousins, are perfectly normal.

Is it fine to not feel guilt and take things more lightly?

Regards, XXXXXXX
Also I have one question doctor. What is the difference between thoughts and Auditory hallucinations. Is auditory hallucinations heard through ears?

A thought that you have like 'What should I write as a reply to my question' is not a auditory hallucination right.

Brief Answer:
you do not have psychosis at all

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Your problem - concern of having illness from colleague- is just anxiety. I used to treat most of the persons with such problem with counselling and reassurance. When anxiety level is more medicine is needed. Your dose of medicine is very low. And yes some doctor prescribes anti psychotic medicine (like risperidone) in very low dose to just reduce anxiety and it works also without side effects. That was the case with you.

Yes you should take such things lightly after reassurance from doctor and do not feel guilty for the same.

Your problem is apprehension of having illness in future though currently no illness in reality is there. So convince yourself that you are normal and nothing would happen. If at all some problem is there, doctor is there to treat the same.

If your social and occupational life is going on normal without any significant disturbance, you do not have any psychiatric illness.

Hallucination means perception without stimulation. Auditory hallucination means to hear someone's voice clearly like normal hearing through ear though someone is not around you at all.
While if you speak to yourself or when someone feels (in the brain , do not hear) that other person is telling me something they are thoughts.

'What should I write as a reply to my question' is of course not at all auditory hallucination.

Feel free to discuss further.

Take care.
