Suggest Remedy For Sensitivity To Teeth After Molar Extraction

default
Posted on Wed, 3 Jun 2015
Question: Hi,

I got my lower left molar extraction 40 days back. Sometimes there is sensitivity in my teeth when I speak. There is no sensitivity to cold or hot things.

-Sensitivity sometimes affects almost all teeth in my mouth.
-Sensitivity also leads to pain in the area where tooth was removed.
-Sensitivity is temporary. Some days I have it intensely and some days I don't have it.
-I don't feel any pain or sensitivity after I wake up from sleep, it gradually develops as I eat and talk.
- This sensitivity is almost the same I used to have before extraction.

I almost changed 2 dentists now,but not getting any satisfactory reply. All of them say that jaw has healed very nicely and there is some exposed nerve which causes this sensitivity and it will heal up.

I have almost been in this torture for 40 days. Any suggestions? Is it going to be permanent?

I am 24 yr old.

Brief Answer:
post extraction complications

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Yes thats true that sometimes after extraction you feel slight pain and sensitivity.

as you said that you have taken other opinions also so I presume that there is no left over tooth piece or any bony spikule or any other affected tooth along side.

sometimes it can take 6 months for the nerves to come to normal.
Don't worry there should be fast recovery and your sensitivity will go away gradually.

Hope this answer helps.

Dr. Shesh.

The pain is becoming extreme. It hurts the whole day if I eat anything from that side. +sensitivity is also there.
Isn't 6 months a long period?

Detailed Answer:
If pain is increasing then it must be some other related cause.

it will be very helpful for me if you can upload the post extraction xray of that site and a orthopantomograpg (OPG) of mouth.

There should not be that much pain 40 days after extraction and healing.

Hope this answer helps
