Suggest Remedy For Redness On The Gums And Pain Inside The Mouth

default
Posted on Thu, 11 Jun 2015
Question: This morning I woke up with a major pain on the left side of my mouth. I looked in the mirror and I noticed that my gums were red around three teeth (Most notably near the crown implant I had gotten due to a dentist's careless in not placing in a filling when they should have) but were not bleeding. I took tylenol to sooth the pain and it only worked once. I tried an ice pack, made the pain worse. I brush my teeth (but not as often as I should since my gums are very sensitive and so are my tastebuds. Any tooth paste that makes me cringe I'll completely avoid) and I floss. Is it an infection? If so what should I tell my dentist since I am due for a check-up soon?

Brief Answer:
Most likely Gingivitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to gingivitis. Using chlorhexidine mouth rinse or warm saline will be helpful. You can also apply salt powder on the area.

Applying gels containing choline salicylate like Zytee RB gel is helpful also.
Use some medicated paste for sensitivity. There are several brands available in market like sensodyne.

If all these not helping then antibiotic therapy might be required. In such case approach your dentist or GP.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
